Grants and Charitable Donations*

Abbott Structural Heart supports the advancement of scientific knowledge to improve patient wellness with medical education and fellowship grants, as well as the community with charitable contributions.

PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL EDUCATION GRANTS

Our grants support healthcare institutions, professional associations and societies, and aid providers of continuing education in producing independent medical education events or content related to structural heart therapies.

Application details

Applications must be received at least 60 days before the event, activity or program.

  • An official letter of request on institution letterhead is required and should contain the following information:
    • Description of activity
    • Amount requested
    • How the funds will be used
  • Also include:
    • Official invitation, program or agenda
    • Estimated total budget for the program, activity or event
    • Additional documents may be required.

Keep in mind that:

  • Grants can be used for general expenses, such as accreditation, audio/visual, management expenses, marketing and room rental.
  • In some countries, grants may not be used for speaker or attendee expenses like honoraria, food and beverages, travel or lodging.
  • Organizers should submit one application per event.
  • We do not fund multi-year or ongoing educational programs.

FELLOWSHIP GRANTS

Abbott Structural Heart provides funding for medical institutions to administer their own fellowship programs in the areas of structural heart therapies.

Note that fellowship funding in the United States is subject to Sunshine Act reporting and may require reporting in other countries as well.

Application details

Applications must be received at least 90 days before the fellowship program.
A few things to keep in mind:

  • Fellowship grants are for fellowship programs to distribute to fellow recipients of their choice.
    • An organization, not an individual, must submit the application.
    • Do not include fellows’ names with the application.
    • After you have awarded your fellowship, you may be required to provide the fellow’s name and identifying information for reporting purposes.
    • Indicate a physical mailing address in your application. P.O. boxes are not accepted.
  • You will need to submit the following documents with your application:
    • Letter of Request (on letterhead, including amount requested)
    • Agenda (including times, topics, faculty), brochure or invitation
    • Estimated total budget for the program
    • Additional documents may be required.

CHARITABLE DONATIONS

Abbott Structural Heart provides monetary donations that support fundraisers and advance the well-being of our community.

Community well-being and fundraisers

We consider charitable requests from organizations that do work related to structural heart disease states and therapies:

  • Fundraisers: We focus on events that raise funds for low-income and other underserved communities impacted by cardiac and vascular conditions
  • Community Well-being Activities: We focus on campaigns, programs and events that advance community well-being and build public awareness of cardiac and vascular conditions.
